BA (Hons) in Broadcasting & Journalism
      (JPS Ref No: KPT(JPS) 600-07/36/Jld.VI(54))

Course Description

The broadcasting industry is changing at a rapid pace, ushering in both opportunities and challenges. The convergence of the media, rapid expansion of the communication industry and globalization are creating exciting prospects for professionals, users and consumers.

Broadcast journalism demands a special set of skills and knowledge different from the print journalism as broadcast copy is written to be read out loud by a news reader rather than read silently the words. Sentences must be accurate, clear and must complement the pictures, video and audio that accompany a story. The television and radio news industry, including cable TV systems, continues to evolve in exciting ways. As the news business moves more rapidly from the printed newspaper to electronic news, demand will grow for students equipped for broadcast journalism in politics, science and technology, health, entertainment and sports.

Students will hone highly professional skills, acquire hands-on experience in industry projects and acquire access to the latest technology. They will learn to apply creative skills in a real-world environment. They will be groomed to be an entrepreneur, publisher or professional broadcaster.

The career pathway further widens owing to the proliferation of radio and TV stations, internet explosion and diversification of the print and electronic sectors.
